Surah Ash-Sharh (Arabic: سورة Ash-Sharh, "The Relief") is the 94 chapter (surah) of the Qur'an, containing 8 verses (ayahs). It is classified as a Meccan Surah, meaning it is historically understood to have been revealed during the Meccan Period (610–622 CE) of the prophecy.

Text and Translation

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm
Verse 94:1
اَلَمۡ نَشۡرَحۡ لَكَ صَدۡرَكَۙ‏
alam nashraḥ laka ṣadraka
Did We not expand for you, [O Muhammad], your breast
Verse 94:2
وَوَضَعۡنَا عَنۡكَ وِزۡرَكَۙ‏
wawaḍaʿnā ʿanka wiz'raka
And We removed from you your burden
Verse 94:3
الَّذِيۡ٘ اَنۡقَضَ ظَهۡرَكَۙ‏
alladhī anqaḍa ẓahraka
Which had weighed upon your back
Verse 94:4
وَرَفَعۡنَا لَكَ ذِكۡرَكَؕ‏
warafaʿnā laka dhik'raka
And raised high for you your repute
Verse 94:5
فَاِنَّ مَعَ الۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرًاۙ‏
fa-inna maʿa l-ʿus'ri yus'ran
For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease
Verse 94:6
اِنَّ مَعَ الۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرًاؕ‏
inna maʿa l-ʿus'ri yus'ran
Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease
Verse 94:7
فَاِذَا فَرَغۡتَ فَانۡصَبۡۙ‏
fa-idhā faraghta fa-inṣab
So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship]
Verse 94:8
وَاِلٰي رَبِّكَ فَارۡغَبۡࣖ‏
wa-ilā rabbika fa-ir'ghab
And to your Lord direct [your] longing
