Surah Al-Mutaffifin (Arabic: سورة Al-Mutaffifin, "The Defrauders") is the 83 chapter (surah) of the Qur'an, containing 36 verses (ayahs). It is classified as a Meccan Surah, meaning it is historically understood to have been revealed during the Meccan Period (610–622 CE) of the prophecy.
Introduction

Text and Translation
Verse 83:1
وَيۡلٌ لِّلۡمُطَفِّفِيۡنَۙ
waylun lil'muṭaffifīna
Woe to those who give less [than due]
Verse 83:2
الَّذِيۡنَ اِذَا اكۡتَالُوۡا عَلَي النَّاسِ يَسۡتَوۡفُوۡنَؗۖ
alladhīna idhā ik'tālū ʿalā l-nāsi yastawfūna
Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full
Verse 83:3
وَاِذَا كَالُوۡهُمۡ اَوۡ وَّزَنُوۡهُمۡ يُخۡسِرُوۡنَؕ
wa-idhā kālūhum aw wazanūhum yukh'sirūna
But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss
Verse 83:4
اَلَا يَظُنُّ اُولٰٓئِكَ اَنَّهُمۡ مَّبۡعُوۡثُوۡنَۙ
alā yaẓunnu ulāika annahum mabʿūthūna
Do they not think that they will be resurrected
Verse 83:5
لِيَوۡمٍ عَظِيۡمٍۙ
liyawmin ʿaẓīmin
For a tremendous Day
Verse 83:6
يَّوۡمَ يَقُوۡمُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَؕ
yawma yaqūmu l-nāsu lirabbi l-ʿālamīna
The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds
Verse 83:7
كَلَّا٘ اِنَّ كِتٰبَ الۡفُجَّارِ لَفِيۡ سِجِّيۡنٍؕ
kallā inna kitāba l-fujāri lafī sijjīnin
No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen
Verse 83:8
وَمَا٘ اَدۡرٰىكَ مَا سِجِّيۡنٌؕ
wamā adrāka mā sijjīnun
And what can make you know what is sijjeen
Verse 83:9
كِتٰبٌ مَّرۡقُوۡمٌؕ
kitābun marqūmun
It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed
Verse 83:10
وَيۡلٌ يَّوۡمَئِذٍ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِيۡنَۙ
waylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīna
Woe, that Day, to the deniers
Verse 83:11
الَّذِيۡنَ يُكَذِّبُوۡنَ بِيَوۡمِ الدِّيۡنِؕ
Who deny the Day of Recompense
Verse 83:12
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهٖ٘ اِلَّا كُلُّ مُعۡتَدٍ اَثِيۡمٍۙ
And none deny it except every sinful transgressor
Verse 83:13
اِذَا تُتۡلٰي عَلَيۡهِ اٰيٰتُنَا قَالَ اَسَاطِيۡرُ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَؕ
When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples
Verse 83:14
كَلَّا بَلۡࣝ رَانَ عَلٰي قُلُوۡبِهِمۡ مَّا كَانُوۡا يَكۡسِبُوۡنَ
No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning
Verse 83:15
كَلَّا٘ اِنَّهُمۡ عَنۡ رَّبِّهِمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٍ لَّمَحۡجُوۡبُوۡنَؕ
No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned
Verse 83:16
ثُمَّ اِنَّهُمۡ لَصَالُوا الۡجَحِيۡمِؕ
Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire
Verse 83:17
ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هٰذَا الَّذِيۡ كُنۡتُمۡ بِهٖ تُكَذِّبُوۡنَؕ
Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny
Verse 83:18
كَلَّا٘ اِنَّ كِتٰبَ الۡاَبۡرَارِ لَفِيۡ عِلِّيِّيۡنَؕ
No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun
Verse 83:19
وَمَا٘ اَدۡرٰىكَ مَا عِلِّيُّوۡنَؕ
And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun
Verse 83:20
كِتٰبٌ مَّرۡقُوۡمٌۙ
It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed
Verse 83:21
يَّشۡهَدُهُ الۡمُقَرَّبُوۡنَؕ
Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]
Verse 83:22
اِنَّ الۡاَبۡرَارَ لَفِيۡ نَعِيۡمٍۙ
Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure
Verse 83:23
عَلَي الۡاَرَآئِكِ يَنۡظُرُوۡنَۙ
On adorned couches, observing
Verse 83:24
تَعۡرِفُ فِيۡ وُجُوۡهِهِمۡ نَضۡرَةَ النَّعِيۡمِۚ
You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure
Verse 83:25
يُسۡقَوۡنَ مِنۡ رَّحِيۡقٍ مَّخۡتُوۡمٍۙ
They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed
Verse 83:26
خِتٰمُهٗ مِسۡكٌؕ وَفِيۡ ذٰلِكَ فَلۡيَتَنَافَسِ الۡمُتَنٰفِسُوۡنَؕ
The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete
Verse 83:27
وَمِزَاجُهٗ مِنۡ تَسۡنِيۡمٍۙ
And its mixture is of Tasneem
Verse 83:28
عَيۡنًا يَّشۡرَبُ بِهَا الۡمُقَرَّبُوۡنَؕ
A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink
Verse 83:29
اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ اَجۡرَمُوۡا كَانُوۡا مِنَ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا يَضۡحَكُوۡنَؗۖ
Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed
Verse 83:30
وَاِذَا مَرُّوۡا بِهِمۡ يَتَغَامَزُوۡنَؗۖ
And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances
Verse 83:31
وَاِذَا انۡقَلَبُوۡ٘ا اِلٰ٘ي اَهۡلِهِمُ انۡقَلَبُوۡا فَكِهِيۡنَؗۖ
And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting
Verse 83:32
وَاِذَا رَاَوۡهُمۡ قَالُوۡ٘ا اِنَّ هٰ٘ؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّوۡنَۙ
And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost
Verse 83:33
وَمَا٘ اُرۡسِلُوۡا عَلَيۡهِمۡ حٰفِظِيۡنَؕ
But they had not been sent as guardians over them
Verse 83:34
فَالۡيَوۡمَ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا مِنَ الۡكُفَّارِ يَضۡحَكُوۡنَۙ
So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers
Verse 83:35
عَلَي الۡاَرَآئِكِۙ يَنۡظُرُوۡنَؕ
On adorned couches, observing
Verse 83:36
هَلۡ ثُوِّبَ الۡكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوۡا يَفۡعَلُوۡنَࣖ
Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do
