Surah Al-Masad (Arabic: سورة Al-Masad, "The Palm Fiber") is the 111 chapter (surah) of the Qur'an, containing 5 verses (ayahs). It is classified as a Meccan Surah, meaning it is historically understood to have been revealed during the Meccan Period (610–622 CE) of the prophecy.

Text and Translation

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm
Verse 111:1
تَبَّتۡ يَدَا٘ اَبِيۡ لَهَبٍ وَّتَبَّؕ‏
tabbat yadā abī lahabin watabba
May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he
Verse 111:2
مَا٘ اَغۡنٰي عَنۡهُ مَالُهٗ وَمَا كَسَبَؕ‏
mā aghnā ʿanhu māluhu wamā kasaba
His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained
Verse 111:3
سَيَصۡلٰي نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍۙ‏
sayaṣlā nāran dhāta lahabin
He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame
Verse 111:4
وَّامۡرَاَتُهٗؕ حَمَّالَةَ الۡحَطَبِۚ‏
wa-im'ra-atuhu ḥammālata l-ḥaṭabi
And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood
Verse 111:5
فِيۡ جِيۡدِهَا حَبۡلٌ مِّنۡ مَّسَدٍࣖ‏
fī jīdihā ḥablun min masadin
Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber
